WHO IS SNOOP DOG

Snoop Dogg is arguably one of this generation’s favourite rappers, and who can blame them? His chill and laid back personality isn’t just a star quality, it’s who he’s been even since childhood.

Snoop was born in Long Beach, California, and raised there by his mother Beverly Broadus. A caring son, he was a newspaper boy, sold candies and also bagged groceries in order to help his family cope financially.

He also showed interest in music at a young age, playing piano and singing in choir at church until he started rapping in 6th grade. It didn’t take him long to get involved in troublesome activities, however, as he joined the Rollin’ 20 crips in his teens. He rose to fame after featuring in Dr. Dre’s debut single “Deep Cover” and album “the Chronic”, before Snoop himself debuted with “Doggystyle” produced by the latter artist in 1993. The album later reached Quadruple-Platinum status.

He signed to several record labels throughout his career, transitioning from “gangsta” to “pimp” and popularising “izzle speaking”, as well as delivering ultra smooth and laid back rapping. Snoop to date, has 14 singles reaching top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100, and has won 27 awards out of 96 nominations.

Besides having success in the music industry, he also set a Guinness World Record for the “Largest Paradise Cocktail”, by a measure of 550 litres, has famous family members, has certification for medical cannabis and he looks like an Italian Greyhound.
