WHO IS WILL.I.AM
The man, the myth, the legend, and possibly one of the best producers of our generation, William James Adams Jr. was born on March 15, 1975 in Eastside Los Angeles to Debra Cain, who had raised him as a single mother.
William met Apl.de.ap during summer school. Little did these kids know they’d make it beyond big. They first formed a group of five called the Atban Klann, and got signed to Ruthless Records after impressing Eazy-E during one of their performances.
The group went through changes after Easy-E’s death, and eventually named themselves the Black Eyed Peas. Subsequently, the they released their first studio album through Interscope Records in 1998, which peaked at #3 on Billboard’s Heatseekers chart. Will’s solo endeavor began with the release of “The Lost Change”, which was fairly successful.
The Black Eyed Peas’ first RIAA certification was 2x platinum for the album, “Elephunk”, which ranked #14 on the Billboard 200 and contained two chart topping singles, “Where is the Love” and “Shut Up”.
Will gets a taste of being #1 on the charts as a solo artist upon the release of his fourth studio album, “#willpower”.
That doesn’t mean his production is subpar, since he continues to create banger after banger to this day, collaborating with an endless sequence of big artists.
