WHO ARE THE BOYZ II MEN

The R&B scene will never be complete without a boy band that can make the entire human population swoon. Boyz II Men supplied us with a long list of mood-setting R&B masterpieces that just touch our hearts a certain way.

They won five different awards with one of their greatest hits of all time, “End of the Road”, alone. So, what brought these charming men together in the first place? Well, it isn’t magnets for sure.

They went to the same school, which is the Philadelphia High School for the Creative and Performing Arts. As friends, they formed a group and called themselves the Unique Attraction. It wasn’t until 1988 that they changed their name into Boyz II Men, inspired by a New Edition song.

They released their debut album in ‘91 called “Cooleyhighharmony”. It was an immediate success for the group, as the album peaked at #3 on the Billboard 200 and #1 on Billboard’s Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums.

It was also certified 9x Platinum by the RIAA. They didn’t stop there. They released yet another successful album that sold over 12M copies in the U.S. alone in 1994. It was their second album, “II”, which hosted the #1 hit single, “I’ll make love to You”.

They’ve been actively releasing music for almost two decades, and their 13th (and currently last) album was released in 2017.
