WHO IS TYGA

Did you know, Tyga is part Jamaican and part Vietnamese? Tyga was born in Compton as Michael Ray Stevenson on the 19th November, 1989 and was raised there.

He’s one of the few people who have shared little information on their early life, but has expressed that he grew up listening to some of the greatest rappers of all time, including Eminem.

He began his music career releasing mixtapes, debuting with “Young On Probation” in 2007. The mixtape caught Travie McCoy’s attention, and as a result he got signed to Decaydence Records, now known as DCD2 Records, under which he released his first independent album, “No Introduction”.

The album received a good amount of attention, with one of its singles, “Diamond Life” having been used in video games and films. He signed with Young Money Entertainment in 2008, and was later featured in the single “Bedrock”, along with various hip-hop artists.

He hit the charts with his mixtape “Fan of a Fan” with its lead single “Deuces” in collaboration with his bestie Chris Brown being #1 on Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and peaking at #14 on the Billboard Hot 100, as well as getting a Grammy nomination.

A more recent chart topper, his single “Taste” featuring Offset,  peaked the Billboard’s Hot 100 at #8 and was certified 6x platinum by the RIAA. Aside from his musicality, he is known as a TV personality and one of Kylie Jenner’s controversial exes.
