WHO IS CHINGY

Not so long before Chingy blessed Hip-Hop fans with his music, he was Howard Earl Bailey Jr. born on March 9, 1980 in St. Louis, Missouri.

He started writing songs at an early age of 9 years, and by the next year he was recording his rap pieces. He was a local success before becoming mainstream, with the release of a collaborative single with M.G.D. and Mysphit, “What’s Poppin Off”. Early 2000, Ludacris had signed Chingy into Disturbing Tha Peace without hesitation, where “Right Thurr” would be given birth to in 2003.

The single peaked at #2 on the Billboard Hot 100, #1 on the Billboard Hot Rap Songs, and won the Single of the Year award from The Source. Later that same year, Chingy released his first studio album, “Jackpot” with Ludacris; Snoop Dogg; Murphy Lee; and others as guest features.

The album reached #2 on the Billboard 200 and Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums while it peaked at #73 on the UK OCC. To date, Chingy has released five albums in total, and has another one in the works this year.
