WHO IS FAITH EVANS

Faith Renée Jordan was born on June 10, 1973 in Florida. Her parents, Helene Evans and Richard Swain, were musically inclined - Helene was a professional singer whilst Richard was a musician.

Richard was never present, instead she was raised by her mom and her aunt Johnnie Mae in New Jersey, who at the same time, along with her husband Orvelt, had fostered over a hundred children.

Faith sang from the moment she was two and continued singing growing up; at church; in public with jazz bands; events like festivals, contests and pageants. She had to leave her studies behind at Fordham University upon conceiving her daughter with Kiyamma Griffin.

Her rise to fame started with catching Puff’s interest while she was a backup vocalist, followed by signing to Bad Boy Ent. as the first female artist in the label. This is where she found a love that went from 0 to 100 real quick, as she married Biggie just a week and a day after meeting him at a Bad Boy photoshoot before she could even release her first studio album.

“Faith” was a success nevertheless, having been certified platinum. Not long after, the couple separated and Faith started dating Todd Russaw, whom she’d had a child with after Biggie's untimely death - for which Puff and herself would shortly produce the tribute, “I’ll Be Missing You”.

The song topped the US Billboard 100 for 11 weeks and won a Grammy Award for Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group.

To date she has released seven studio albums, appeared in several films and television shows, and has raised money to support Little Kids Rock.
