WHO IS J COLE

Jermaine Lamarr Cole, more simply known as J. Cole was born on a military base in Germany on January 28th 1985, before relocating to Fayetteville, North Carolina.

Cole spent much of his childhood learning how to write lyrics and produce thanks to the support of his mother, giving him a drum machine. In highschool, he was a first-chair violinist in the orchestra.

The release of his second mixtape ‘The Warm Up’ caught the attention of Jay Z, who previously refused to meet J. Cole, and subsequently was offered a record deal. In 2011, Cole’s debut album, ‘Cole World: The Sideline Story’, was released and debuted at #1 on Billboard 200 and became certified platinum.

To this day, Cole has released 5 studio albums, all have been a commercial and critical success with all the albums reaching at least platinum certification.

His fifth album ‘KOD’ and subsequent singles broke numerous streaming and chart records, arguably the most impressive being tied with the infamous British band.

The Beatles for holding 6 positions simultaneously within the top 20 of the Hot 100, A record The Beatles had held for 54 years.

Cole boasts a smorgasbord of different accolades from chart records to Grammy Award wins, cementing his place as one of the most successful and influential rappers in the industry.
