Cardi B the Dominican

Cardi B was born Belcalis Marlenis Almánzar in Manhattan on the 11th of October, 1992, and raised in the Bronx, where she was apparently a member of the East Coast Bloods gang and attended Renaissance High School for Musical Theatre and Technology.

She had a humble early life, once working at a deli and then immediately after that as a stripper - we know how it sounds.

Thanks to social media, where she became viral, her gradual but headstrong branching out as an entertainer began.

She joined the cast of “Love & Hip Hop: New York” in 2015 and appeared regularly for two seasons before she left to focus on advancing her music career.

Her first mixtape was released in March 2006, and throughout that same year she’d appeared on TV shows, ad campaigns, and collaborated with other artists on an album.

In 2017, she signed a contract with Atlantic Records and subsequently released “Bodak Yellow” which, as The New York Times described it, became “the rap anthem of the summer”.

It was certified 9x platinum and won the award at the 2017 BET Hip Hop Awards for Single of the Year. Since then, she became the first Dominican to be #1 in any Hot 100 charts since its launch, among many other firsts in the history of showbiz.

Now, she’s known to have several collaborations with Bruno Mars, as well as well-known rappers, to have been the first female rapper named Woman of the Year at the Billboard’s Women Music Awards, and to have her signature hilariously chaotic energy that makes her legitimately an entertainer.
