Who is Kanye West

Kanye is easily one of the most controversial rappers out there, with “I am a God” and “Famous” possibly being his song title choices to describe himself if asked. Besides his confidence, his other star qualities would be music production and the strong appetite to be more than a producer.

He was born in Atlanta (or Douglasville, who knows) on 8th of June, 1977 and raised in Chicago, Illinois by his mother Donda Williams who taught English class at Clark Atlanta University among other things. His father, Ray West, was formerly a Black Panther and one of the first black photojournalists at the A.J.C. A true Gemini, Kanye had been an artist at heart growing up - writing poetry , rapping and composing music and eventually learning how to sample beats at 15.

He even took painting class after receiving a scholarship to attend Chicago’s American Academy of Art! Like most artists, Yeezy had to drop out of studies to focus on his music career, which fortunately later brought him to Roc-A-Fella Records in 2000 after a series of opportunities producing elsewhere.

Contributing to Jay Z’s album “Blueprint” not only gave new life to the former’s career, but also put Kanye closer to the spotlight as a producer. However, Kanye also wanted to rap, which is a wish that Roc-A-Fella Records (and others) hesitated to grant, but eventually did. In October of 2002, Kanye got into a car crash that shattered his jaw, but not his determination to be a star. He was instead inspired to compose “Through the Wire” and eventually create the album “College Dropout”. One success after another, he collaborates with Daft Punk and marries a Kardashian… the rest, everyone already knows!
