WHO IS MAC MILLER

Malcolm James McCormick known by his stage name Mac Miller, was born January 19th 1992 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

He learned to play piano, guitar, drums and bass by himself at six years of age. Once an avid athlete and singer, at 15 he decided to focus all of his time and energy into rapping.

Just three years later he signed with Rostrum Records after impressing the president of the label.

Despite other offers he chose Rostrum due to its location and hosting fellow Pittsburgh rapper and friend Wiz Khalifa on their roster. He was then thrusted into the limelight when featured on the prestigious XXL Freshman List of 2011 along with Kendrick Lamar and Meek Mill. His single ‘Donald Trump’ from the mixtape ‘Best Day Ever’ became his first song to make the Billboard’s Hot 100 peaking at 75.

Miller released his first studio album ‘Blue Slide Park’ which debuted atop of the Billboard 200, which would be the first independently released album to reach this acclaim since 1995. On September 7th, 2018 Miller passed away in his L.A. home after consuming a deadly mix of drugs and alcohol.

Although his death was accidental, Mac had a long history of depression and drug dependency.

Miller’s album ‘Swimming’ was posthumously nominated for a Grammy award for best rap album, the album ‘Circles’ released after his death debuted at number three, with the single ‘Good News’ Becoming his highest ranking solo track reaching 17 on Billboard.

Sadly, he never got to bless his momma with some grandkids like he promised.
