WHO IS MARIAH CAREY

She’s beauty, she’s grace. Her whistle notes are ace. We have an Aries diva in our midst, whose voice echos repeatedly during Christmas holidays.

Mariah Carey was born on 27th March, 1970 in Huntington, New York. She’s a natural-born artist who let her creativity shine at the early age of 3, which is when she started singing.

Mariah was gifted at arts and literature in elementary school, until she became busy with demo recording during high school.

Columbia Records was over the moon to have Mariah in their industry after hearing her demo tape, and spent over a million on promoting her self-titled debut studio album which, eventually was #1 on the Billboard 200 for 11 weeks straight.

Six other albums later, she hopped to Virgin Records and then to Island Records, where she would release one of her greatest comebacks, “The Emancipation of Mimi” in 2005.

The album was #1 on the Billboard 200 as well as certified 6x Platinum by the RIAA, 3x PLatinum by Music Canada, and 2x Platinum by the BPI.

Mariah has only won five Grammy awards out 34 nominations, but even so, she has a plethora of other awards received from the BMI Pop Music Awards; Billboard Music Awards; World Music Awards; and others throughout her entire music career.

She has also been associated with several charitable organisations like the Fresh Air Fund, Make-A-Wish Foundation, and recently was a headline for the Rise Up New York! telethon.
