WHO IS BEYONCE KNOWLES

A lot of us might think our Queen Bee, born Beyoncé Giselle Knowles, was an ordinary young lady once. Scratch that, she never was.

Although she had a humble upbringing in Houston, Texas with her mother Celestine and father Matthew Knowles, a hairdresser/salon owner and a sales manager for Xerox respectively, Beyoncé was destined to be a star and everyone knew it.

She loved performing as early as age 7, having enrolled in dance lessons, winning a school talent show with John Lennon’s “Imagine” as her entry song against contestants more or less twice her age! She enrolled to, and attended a few other schools, to perform and sing in choirs, and as a soloist.

She auditioned with childhood bestie Kelly Rowland to be placed into “Girl’s Tyme” with LaTavia Robertson, along with other girls. They lost the biggest talent show of their time called “Star Search”, and under Matthew’s management had to have less members due to redundancy.

They jumped from one record label to another until signing to Columbia Records, and changed their name in 1996 to “Destiny’s Child”, and in 1997 they debuted with the song “No No No”. For his first solo recording, Beyoncé featured on “03 Bonnie & Clyde” by Jay Z. Soon after, she released her first solo album “Dangerously In Love” on the 24th of June, 2003 which has sold 11M copies around the globe since then, and in it was her first solo single to rank first in charts namely, “Crazy In Love” featuring her then new boyfriend Jay Z.

That song must have built a strong foundation on a long-lasting relationship.
