WHO IS WIZ KHALIFA
WIZ KHALIFA BIOGRAPHY
If it isn’t Snoop’s mini-me, we have Wiz Khalifa! Khalifa was born on 8th September, 1987 in Dakota as Cameron Jibril Thomaz. As a child, he almost never had a stable home, having to move from place to place and even country to country due to his parents doing full-time military service.
They later finally settled in Pittsburgh, where Khalifa subsequently started writing songs. By 15, he frequented a studio called I.D. Labs where he’d record his songs.
Wiz was apparently so good at what he does, the studio decided to let him do recordings for free! After contributing to a mixtape in 2004, Wiz had left an impeccable impression on the president of Rostrum Records, who immediately decided he wanted Wiz in the record label.
He released his first mixtape, “Prince of the City: Welcome to Pistolvania”, before his debut studio album, “Show and Prove”, which was released roughly a year later.
While he worked on more mixtapes under Rostrum, he released his first ever Warner Bros. single, “Say Yeah”, which reached #25 on Billboard’s Rhythmic Top 40.
His association with Warner Bros. didn’t last very long, but working with Rostrum Records paid off with the release of “Black and Yellow”, also peaking at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100. In 2011, he came back with his third studio album that would debut at #2 on the Billboard 200, namely “Rolling Papers”.
Shortly afterwards, he was nominated for, and won the Best New Artist award at the BET. He has released a total of seven albums throughout his career, and we know he isn’t done yet.
