Buckle up, cause this next artist will amaze you in a way most rappers have never blown your mind before.

Lil Nas X or at birth, Montero Lamar Hill, is a rapper; singer/songwriter; and one of the braver souls in the Hip-Hop/R&B industry.

Why, you ask? He came out to the public as gay during Pride Month of 2019.

The “Old Town Road” rapper was born on the 9th of April, 1999 Georgia. A memelord at heart, Hill spent most of his teens on the internet, especially on Twitter, where he also ran Nicki Minaj fan accounts like a true Nicki stan.

His music career started with him anonymously buying a Dutch producer’s beat for thirty dollars, which he would use to birth “Old Town Road”. The song blew up on TikTok in 2019 through the #Yeehaw challenge.

Lil Nas X released his first EP in 2019, which debuted on the Billboard 200 at #2 and got nominated for a Grammy award.

Contained in this EP are the remix of “Old Town Road” featuring Billy Ray Cyrus and his other hit “Panini”, which is a lighthearted break-up song with a hilarious music video, to the old fans who for some reason, stopped supporting him post-fame.

A debut album is in the works this year, and we are anything but patient now after the release of one of its singles, “Holiday”.

Lil Nas X is one of the very few rappers, along with iLoveMakonnen and possibly Tyler (The Creator), who are open about their sexuality since to this day, LGBTQ+ representation in such an industry is still extremely scarce and not so widely accepted.
